Rich chocolatey bliss balls that also pack a good dose of Omega 3? Yes please! These brownie bliss balls are a delicious snack when that little morning or mid-afternoon slump hits. And they satisfy the sweet cravings. Yum.
First I find it is important to mention that I am not a certified nutritionist, dietician or any other healthth care professional. HOWEVER I love learning things about nutrition and how we can support our bodies. With that being said, Omega 3 is one of those nutrients you should consider to supplement on a vegan/ vegetarian lifestyle. Together with omega 6, these two essential fatty acids cannot be produced by our bodies. Therefore they need to be consumed through food. So there is definitely nothing wrong with getting some extra omegas. Especially in form of these yummy brownie bliss balls!
Now I have to say, it would take too long to go into more detail about omega fats. And since we are here for the recipe, I will just link a few articles that provide reasonable information in my opinion!
Real quick, a few things that Omega 3s are known to be important for: they’re associated with a lower risk of heart diseases, play a role in reducing inflammation and contribute to our brain health.
About these brownie bliss balls
Making them is actually pretty easy. All you need are a food processor and the ingredients of course. These bliss balls are made from dates, oats, a little coconut flour, flax meal, roasted hazel- and walnuts, cacao powder, cacao nibs and hemp seeds. They are not too sweet, the different nuts add a nice creamy flavour and the hempseeds and cacao nibs provide a bit more crunchiness.
I know this might sound like quite a handful of rather expensive ingredients. But at this point I also have to point ou that I am very glad to live in a family that loves nuts. They are a staple in our pantry that mustn’t be missing!
Anyways, first you need to soak the dates for a while. The rest is simply blending and then rolling the batter into bliss balls. I really enjoy making recipes like this as I find the last step quite meditating and calming!
After letting them firm in the freezer for a bit, they’re ready. And there you go, a nutritious and delicious snack is waiting for you whenever you like. I hope you enjoy!
